Street Panorama

Took this panorama shot one week before our NDP (National Day Parade) with my Smartphone camera in Panorama Mode. It was a hot Sunday afternoon and the lighting was beautiful. A man was crossing the road as I was swinging my phone camera. The photo was post-processed in Adobe LR mobile app.

Took another panorama shot of Anderson Bridge at a later afternoon. The area behind the camera is Victoria Theater and the open grass space in front was packed with people on picnics. Quite a number of people was taking selfies and group photos on the bridge too. Managed to get this clean shot without people passing by on the foreground. Minutes after a few panorama shots, the stormy clouds approached, which can be seen in the far right background of this photo. Post-processed in Adobe LR mobile app.

Street Photos – All The Reds and Whites

In the spirit of celebrating our nation's 58th birthday, I've made and gathered some random street photos with Red and White as the main color theme. Happy birthday Singapore!

Street Photo – Untitled

About a month ago, I was "fishing" around the City Hall area, just at the junction between North Bridge Road and Coleman Street. It was a crowded Sunday afternoon with many Vietnamese and Myanmar people.

Initially, I wanted to take photographs of this young girl standing by the barricades, but she looked away when I pressed the shutter. However, this young guy walked into the frame and stroked his hair. That look in his eyes is filled with self-confidence. Next to him, a masked lady with her sunglasses on her head, frowning. It'd be a better and more interesting street photograph by cropping the photo as shown below, focussing on these 2 characters.

Our National Day is just around the corner and there will be more people hanging out in that area on the coming weekends. I'm planning on doing more up-close street photos of people. Will share the photos when ready.

Street Photos – Primary Colors

Do you know what are the primary colors? Yes, they are RED, BLUE, and YELLOW.

I understand that you, the viewers see lots of yellow color in these 3 street photos as the dominating color, but take a closer look (if you look closely and long enough), there are the reds and blues, and even a secondary color i.e. GREEN. Oh! There are neutral colors too (black, white and grey). Did you spot them all in each photo?

Street Photo – underbar

underbar
©2023 Martin Liew Photography

I was inspired and strongly motivated to do street photography last weekend. I was on alert mode, constantly looking for interesting characters, gestures, body language, facial expressions, human interactions, found objects, etc. And there it was. I was walking along the sidewalk of Bugis+ shopping mall and spotted this man sitting under the mall signboard, if that's what they called it, with that strong peachy pink color tone on his polo T-shirt on par with the same color tone on the letter 'b'.

I titled it 'underbar' because I Google-searched and found there's another name for underscore. That short horizontal pink stripe across the polo T-shirt, positioned right beside the letter 'b', says it all.
